From the ashes rose Africa,
A phoenix of pure sunlight.

Its vast wings of antiquity,
spread out across the continent:

A mother’s arms shielding its
newborn from an Imperialist Sun.

Flying high above the countries
once ravaged with war,

Its blinding beauty was a reminder
of its once great past.
